ASAP Relocations Category: Movers 1 star rating 12/4/2008 Updated review:It's 1/25/99. The move is done. I'm going to update this review by starting from the beginning. You should also know that I am a real person; this is a real review. My ASAP Relocations order number was 59681 and my Bill of Lading number was 7035. I would love to see this kind of specificity from some of these 4 and 5 star reviewers.I recently moved from SF to Detroit. I was already here in Detroit and my stuff was in a storage space in SF. Of course, ASAP had the lowest estimate, so I phoned them and I dealt with a guy named Dennis Mai. When asked how much stuff I had; I told him that the vast majority of my things were 12" vinyl records. He then began to tell me about how much he loves vinyl and that he regularly goes to Tower Records to get his. Well Dennis, Tower closed 2 years ago; not sure how that would be possible(- 1 star: lying sales guy). The pick-up of my things was scheduled for Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. That was when I'd be back in town to allow access. I prepared my stuff by going in on Friday and boxing up and taping up as much as I could. Saturday rolls around, no ASAP. I was told they would arrive between 12-4; that they would call with an hour's notice, but they never showed. I called them several times as the day went on, no answer just an answering machine. 6pm. The storage space is closed; still no answer. - 1 star for not showing up. But I still need to remove my things and have them shipped before I have to fly back to Detroit. Sometime around 7 pm, I call again, leave a message and a few minutes later someone calls me back. I ask him what happened. He has no explanation. He just says they went to the storage space and no one was there. We schedule another pick-up time for Sunday at noon. I stress with him how important this is; that they need to understand that the storage space closes at 4pm; if they flake, I'm screwed.Sunday rolls around. I ask the people working at the storage space and no one ever showed up the day before for me. -1 star: lying. It's 2:30pm and ASAP is just arriving. -1 star for being very late. The three guys get out of the truck. The guy who appears to run the show is a guy named Anton. Two israeli dudes, one hispanic dude. All pretty small guys; how is this move is gonna happen in 90 mins? Anton proceeds to take his time getting started. I'm waiting downstairs for them to start loading up, but they're in the storage space for at least 1/2 an hour without bringing a single thing down. I go up to see what the problem is and they're wrapping everything I've already boxed up in tape. This was done without my permission and I asked Anton to stop, but he tried to explain to me that it really wouldnt be expensive. -1 for lying. It ended up costing me an extra $300. In addition to that, since they were so slow, I ended up having to help them tape my boxes up! The people working at the storage space wanted us out at 4 and I had to do what I could to facilitate that. No matter. 4pm came and went. The storage space was pissed. So what did ASAP do? They hauled all of my stuff out onto the sidewalk and loaded up the truck from there. Classy. -1 star for poor time management. As the final bill was being tallied, Anton, asks the hispanic guy in spanish how many boxes I had. I speak spanish. The guy replies, "puta madre." -1 star for unprofessionalism. Anton then throws out a few numbers and I guess entered the highest of those because my bill for this 1/2 of the move was nearly $900.I get a call about a week later from someone named Mia at ASAP. My final remaining balance will be nearly $1400. This is nearly double my originally estimated price. I can't afford that right away, so I have to take advantage of their month free of storage. I am also dealing with a woman named Linda(-1 star for doing customer service while having a baby in your lap) Of course, I have no idea when I'll get the call that my things are due to be delivered in Detroit, so life goes on. I'm at a new job and they need me in New York for a few days and of course I get the call that my things are scheduled to delivery while I'm gone. Mia tells me that since I am not there they will charge me a $300 re-delivery charge. I could never get her to explain to me why the amount is $300. -1 star for shadiness. That brings my total due to nearly $1700 and of course, they do not accept credit cards or debit cards over the phone. When asked, Mia tells me that there is no way to get a signature on the card that way! Do you know how frustrating it is dealing with people who have your belongings who just arent that smart? My final review gives them -8 stars. Too bad Yelp doesnt allow negative star ratings! This was the worst worst worst experience with moving or any company I have ever had. This company is unscrupulous. Look them up with the California BBB. I wish I'd known this before I handed my stuff over to them. Do not under any circumstances hire ASAP RELOCATIONS!
