I would just like everyone considering buying a Prius to be aware of the cost of replacing the Hybrid battery on a Toyota Prius. We purchased a brand new Prius in 2003. One month after the warranty expired the Hybrid battery went bad. The cost of replacing this battery is $4000. Neither Toyota nor DCH Toyota of Simi Valley would offer us any kind of discount on the battery. When we asked about trading the car in for a new car they valued the Prius at under $2000. So be aware that to replace the battery is extremely expensive.........ask about it before you buy the car! And when they tell you that Prius' retain their value...remember the value they put on thier own product was less than $2000.
