Very bad experience- please be careful when dealing with this company.
I needed to have a natural gas hot water heater installed in my condo. (I had already purchased the heater, just needed installation). I called Douglas Orr and spoke with a receptionist first, who then passed me on to Kevin (a guy who described himself as the owner).
Kevin told me that the company charges $84 per hour for professional plumbing and that I can expect that it will take between 2 and 2.5 hours to install the hot water heater, with 4 hours being the worst case scenario (if all goes wrong).
I was then told I would have to pay $175 for my city permit (which costs $130, and was pulled online in about 5 minutes). (thus, my total exposure was supposed to be $511 (4 hours + permit).
In the end, I was billed over $700 for the work. This included paying for an hour of time while the plumber went to Home Depot to pick up parts that he failed to bring (copper pipe). I was also charged $60 for this copper pipe, that likely cost about $20 at Home Depot.
The guy that showed up had me helping him remove the old heater and put it in his truck. He also left a huge mess for me to clean when he left.
I was extremely disappointed with this company. If you choose to deal with them, I urge you to have a written estimate before any work is done.
